The Inter Company Kielder Challenge is the largest and one of the most exciting in Europe.

There is no other team building competition as focused on addressing the key skills and mental challenges encountered in the work-place. Teams build real skills that are instantly transferrable and never forgotten.

The Challenge is made up of a mix of orienteering and a variety of tasks that will make any team bond and work more closely together. Bonding is achieved through the structure of the tasks which are designed to ensure that only the collective strength of the team will bring success.

Teams not only get the chance to demonstrate how effectively they learn to work together, but individual skills are finely tuned to such a degree that performance and motivation are boosted to completely new levels of achievement.

So, What is It?

A two day Team Building competition, with 64 teams of 6 members all competing for the title of overall winner.

Day One: Saturday

Arrive to enjoy a tasty start to the day, bacon or sausage buttie, and for those veggies amongst us a tasty alternative.

During the day teams orienteer themselves through the forest arriving at one of eight tasks at designated times. The tasks can be mental, physical or a mixture of both. They are lots of fun and are talked about for years to come. Each task takes 30 minutes to complete, before you head off to the next one.

In the evening teams are provided with co-ordinates of where they will stay in the forest, they have to build a shelter, cook a meal which is provided and complete another task in readiness for the finale on the Sunday.

Day 2: Sunday

This is a large scale puzzle task involving orienteering around an area of approximately 60 sq km. Teams split up and assign certain areas then meet at the comb at 12 noon for the competition to be closed and results assessed for each team's place.

There then follows a presentation ceremony with good food, free bar and lots of fun and applause as each team is presented with T-Shirts and given their place.

The party then gets into full swing with an atmosphere that can only be experienced after completing something of this nature.

• Best mixed team
• Best newcomer
• Best utility
• Other trophies for additional sectors depending on entries.
