Leadership Training North East

There are no such things born leaders. Leaders emerge, or are have leadership thrust upon them.

Nor are leaders the same as managers. Managers arrange people and things so that to get desirable results. Leaders make people feel like they want to achieve those results.

Everyone is born with the potential to lead, given the will, competence and some understanding of leadership behaviour. Given these attributes, then, what turns potential into actual leadership? Simply, doing the things that real leaders do.

SO WHAT DO LEADERS DO?

  • Understand who they are and what they are capable of
  • Create and share a vision which is clear and motivational
  • Display and promote emotional intelligence
  • Act positively
  • Create and innovate to promote change
  • Pull (coach) rather than push (instruct)
  • Promote team unity
  • Work with people not systems
  • Value tradition but promote change
  • Develop themselves and motivate others to develop

The Conservative Party's Leadership Training "Thankyou so much for the excellent course you organised for us last week. Both Parliamentary Candidates and the Regional staff who took part thoroughly enjoyed the day, but more importantly, have spoken to me about the insights they took on board from both the group activities and the discussions.

"In one or two cases it was almost possible to see lightbulbs switching on over heads as we progressed through the day!!! It was also very thoughtful of you to give us the framed photo as a lasting memento of our day, so thank you for that also. It is on the wall in our Regional Campaign Centre!"

- Diane Clarke, Regional Director,
The Conservative Party, Yorkshire & The Humber.
